Almost every type of electronic technology related job requires an information technology (IT) security professional. All data transfer devices, such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, servers, automobiles, advanced manufacturing, agriculture equipment, game consoles, etc., require security considerations and defenses. A skilled cybersecurity professional is often the first and the last line of defense in securing electronic data and communication. Students get hands-on experience with technologies such as firewall appliances and Linux. These technologies and others require cybersecurity professionals to plan and carry out security measures to protect an organization’s IT networks and related technology systems. Their responsibilities are continually expanding as the number of cyberattacks increases.
